Heavy Metal Chelation

The amount of heavy metals stored in the body can be a cause for a wide variety of neurological and hormonal problems ranging from unexplained irritability, depression, numbness and tingling to unexplained chronic fatigue.

Mercury is a poisonous metal that can come from the environment (food, water or air), from dental amalgams, or from direct ingestion of mercury compounds.

A urine test is performed after administration of the metal chelator DMSA (which acts as a magnet) to evaluate the body burden of Mercury and other toxic heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, cadmium and nickel. DMSA is used to facilitate the release of mercury and selected other metals that might be in tissues or other locations not part of the circulatory system. After the administration of DMSA, heavy metals are then eliminated into the urine, which is sent to the lab for measurement by atomic absorption and emission spectrometric techniques. If lab values reveal an increase in heavy metal burden on the body, a baseline is established. Dr. Hokayem will discuss treatment options.

Homeopathy-Biotherapuetic Drainage
